From Udon Thani you cycle along the impressive Mekong, one of the most important rivers in Asia. Enjoy the sight of Laos on the other side. Spend the night in one of the many guesthouses with a balcony on the riverside.
When the route of the Mekong bends you can enjoy one of the most pristine areas of Thailand. You spend the night next to a rapid stream and then continue cycling through the hills of the untouched and varied farmland of Thailand. At Uttaradit the route bends south.
You will start to follow the Ping River, which flows into the sea like Chao Phraya near Bangkok. You sometimes drive over river dikes and you arrive in the historic cities of Si Satchanalai, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet and Ayutthaya. Here you can enjoy ancient temples and the highlights of the Siamese Kingdom.
You continue cycling through villages and towns where few tourists come. This way you get acquainted with daily life in Thailand. The route ends in Ayutthaya. From there you will be taken to the international airport in Bangkok. Of course, staying in Bangkok longer is possible. The accommodations along the way are generally of good quality. You also have the choice of various more luxurious accommodations.. The prices are also not too bad in these non-tourist areas. Have you cycled before in Thailand? Then this route will add a lot to your experience. This is a part of Thailand that you should not miss!
