Explore the freedom!
You start your cycling adventure in the city of Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand. From here on out, the route will first take you to Khong Chiam, a town that is beautifully situated on the Mekong. You can take a day trip to Pha Thaem National Park from here. This park is famous for its age-old rock paintings. You can enjoy beautiful views of the Mekong here.

The next stage will take you into Laos towards the Vat Phou, a ruin of a Khmer temple that is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Afterward, you will cycle to Pakse, a tourist city located on the Mekong. From here you continue in the direction of the Bolaven plateau, which stands at an altitude of 1300 meters.
This is a very special area with many waterfalls and known for its coffee plantations. It is certainly worth to visit one of the plantations here.
After a spectacular descent, you will arrive in Pakse again, where you can enjoy a delicious meal on the roof terrace of a beautiful hotel.
The route continues to takes you back to Thailand, where you cycle through the little-visited Emerald Triangle to the Huai Luang waterfall. You can marvel at the many rubber plantations in this pristine region.
The rubber sheets are left to dry on the side of the road like diapers. You should not miss a visit to a temple complex made entirely out of (beer!) bottles. Other cultural highlights are the temples of Phanom Rung, the best restored Khmer temple in the world and Muang Tam, the most beautiful example of Khmer architecture in Thailand.
You will go on to cycle past a floating market where you see thousands of Megabats hanging in trees. Visit the Buddhist temple complex with, a huge bright pink reclining Ganesha, a Hindu god with an elephant’s head.
Your final destination is in Lad Krabang, a suburb of Bangkok, which you reach via beautiful little roads along palm tree plantations and rice fields. At the swimming pool in a pleasant hotel, you can recap and enjoy the beautiful cycling trip you have made!
Most quiet roads are, except for shorter sections, well-paved. The route is in Thailand mostly flat, sometimes somewhat hilly, but the climbs are short and not heavy. In Laos the climb to the Bolaven plateau is very regular and, apart from a few hundred meters, not very difficult.
