We cycle the most beautiful parts, we sit at the warmest campfires, we sleep under the most starry skies, we will feel healthier and freer than ever before, can something else be described as more outdoor?  

Nelson Mandela, Apartheid, Robben Island, vibrant Cape Town and wildlife parks. South Africa is a country of extremes, including everything in between, that is what makes it the ‘Rainbow Nation’: colorful, diverse, full of history. Thanks to its rich history, South Africa has a mix of cultures and populations.

Spatially 30 times the size of the Netherlands, it offers an unprecedented range of extreme landscapes and a rich nature; with 3 times as many inhabitants – who speak 11 official languages – and a wide range of cultures. How is it possible to get a broad impression of the ‘motor of Africa’ in one cycling holiday?

As an “AWOL special” we will organize a one-time group tour in March / April 2021 through this fascinating country. We use a so-called “overland truck”. Since the interest is overwhelming and the first trip is already fully booked, we have subsequently planned a second Overlanding trip with a departure on April 12 and a return on May 5, 2021.
